The Beginning

I'm a thirty-something, wife, a stay at home mother to a toddler, balancer of the budget, a business owner (Lucy2s), a social media ninja assailant, and now I guess I'm a blogger too.

So why write this blog with such a full plate you may ask? Especially with your lack of grammar and spelling skillz... see what I mean.

Well there are two reasons. First, I make handmade accessories and along with that comes being a vendor at many craft shows.  Every single show a woman says to me "I really LOVE those, but I just don't think I can wear that".  True, I make lots of accessories for little girls, but are we really ever too old for a fun accessory... really? I am here to say NO.  I'm not only going to say no, but I'm going to show you that you can still have fun accessories, hair styles, clothes, and make up even if you're not a tween and you can do it without looking a hot mess or spending a fortune (although having a fortune never hurts).  Part of this blog is of course shameless self promotion (ah-hermmm Lucy2s) that makes me, well... American and gives me my aforementioned ninja-ness, but it won't just be about me wearing my own accessories. promise.

Second, I think I perhaps need a little dose of my own medicine. The girl who 15 years ago was rocking vintage Ts, hand embroidered cut-offs paired with old man knee socks and patent leather air walks... can now be found 9 times out of 10 in paint stained sweats and what used to be an oversized t-shirt.  Not only sloppy, but more offensive... boring. Something about the shockingly quick progression of marriage, mortgage, and baby left me feeling a bit lost, a smidge chubby, and in mourning for my freedom.  Well, I'm taking it back one accessory and neon eye shadow at a time. My gypsy lifestyle may have come to a screeching halt, but that doesn't mean that I have to be relegated to the faceless herd of frumpy moms. No, I refuse.  I am retiring the sweats and dusting off the make up brushes. I will be cute.

In an effort to reclaim some of my spunk I felt called to revisit the past.  I combed through the stack of photos and memories that made it through the 47 (only a slight exaggeration) moves and found some oldies but goodies that helped me to remember what it was that I used to love about getting dressed.

Try not to laugh too hard... I am not there with you, so you'd really just be laughing at me and we all know that's not nice.

So maybe I wasn't a style Icon, but at least I had a style.. and it wasn't boring.

I know some of you out there are thanking me for digging these up.  Welcome back to the late 90's.

Of course this was well before the era of cell phone cameras, or even digital cameras so most of my best ensembles were never recorded. I did however find plenty of photos from special occasions. Lol.

Thank you for joining me at the start of this adventure.  I think we're going to have a great time. I can't promise that I will have something great to say all the time, but in the immortal words of Bart Simpson "I promise to try, to try".  In my blog you can look forward to some super fun looks put together by me that show how I would wear something that I love in real life.  I will be experimenting with beauty looks and show you how to pull them off for every day wear.  I will be building style looks for the little ones, talking about my style idols, critiquing some collections and of course giving some stuff away to my loyal readers.

Catch you later. Comment below!

MJC ... these pictures have taken me back! Oh the simpler times in life. I also, vaguely, remember the drawing. Hilarious.

I loved reading this :)

You know, for my first prom dress, my friends told me my dress looked like someone's leftover, ugly drapes.
